Nepal Goodwill Ambassador

In 2009 Johan Ernst Nilson was appointed Goodwill Ambassador for Nepal for his environmental work.
Since his early years in Nepal Johan Ernst has worked with photo documentation of the Himalayan glaciers.
In 2009 Johan Ernst published the book “Seven Summits – The Photo Book”. The coffe table book is a documentation of the mountains and glaciers on the seven continents. In 1997 Swedish climber Göran Kropp introduced Johan Ernst to Wongchu Sherpa who had just started his school, Wongchu Biswa Darshan Junior High School and the expedition donated money to the school. This was the start of 15 years of projects with kids all over the world.

In 2011 Johan Ernst, together with Himalayan veteran Tommy Gustafsson and Wongchu Sherpa, was involved in the Saving Everest Project that brought down a total of 8,110 kilos of garbage collected from the mountain and its trekking trails. Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation of the Government of Nepal praised and congratulated the team on successfully collecting over 8 tons of refuse from the mountains in Himalaya.

Johan Ernst Nilson recived the medal and recognition as Goodwill Ambassador by the Minsiter of Tourism in Nepal for his work to promote Nepals nature and tourism.
